3 mobile phones?

my dad recently upgraded his 3 mobile phone. since he has had it he has had no end of trouble with the handset, e.g. battery running out in less that 24 hours even thought the phone is brand new, then they sent it him back and the battery was still no good and the phone kept on crashing, so he sent it back again, they replaced something in it, he got it back and it would not charge at all, so they are sending him a new battery now but this has taken over 2 weeks to arrive. altogether he has had the new phone for about 3 months but has only had use of the handset for less than 3 weeks (he puts his sim in an old nokia phone). he is getting really fed up with it now and would rather just end his contract with them and move on to another network. does he have a right to do this without having to pay the 12 months worth of contract as he has had so much hastle with them, or will they insist that he stays for the whole 12 months?

  1. 3 tried this with me last yr,
get in touch with citizens advice and tak it from there,
3 were very quick to sort it out for me when the legal side of things got mentioned in various phone calls to them
    good luck

  2. I would recommend he take the phone into the store and see if they can replace the battery.

  3. As you have had so much trouble you may be able to complain about it but as far as i am aware there is no way to get out of a contract. Try a citizens advice bureu they are very helpful people and even help in writing letters to companies. Sorry i couldn’t be more help.

  4. unfortunately there is nothing in the contract stating he can early terminate the contract fee free due to problems with his phone. He can always cancel out, but he’d have to pay the early termination fee on his contract.
I’d recommend he talk with a supv in customer service, maybe they can work out something for him. maybe request some credit towards his bills when he couldn’t use his phone. Taking them to court won’t work either, most cell companies put it in the contract that you waived the right to take them to court and hae to be done through third party arbritation.

  5. Once you have subcribe the network contract, you cannot revoke it so the sim holder must pay the charges eventhough he is not using the telco service..for the batery problem, if you buy a new handphone, you must charge the handphone at least 12 hours before you can use it because this will prevent batery to run out quickly and give more lifespan to the batery..
