Are there any mobile phones with built in two way radios?

Hi, Im just thinking about buying two way radios for work, all the business ones seem to be around 100 £, I need them licence free but still of business quality, so i thought about mobile phones with two way radios built into them? anybody know aything ? x

    Most phones have the push2talk thing on but not sure if it has been rolled out in the uk yet

  2. Boost Mobile or NexTel both have those annoying two-way chirping phones. (hint: don’t use them in restaurants!) :)

  3. I’m not sure of the carriers over there… but contract free walkie talkie phones can be found with Boost mobile… they are similar to pre pay Nextel… well Sprint now… but I know Sprint is international… they should carry a device of that sort… check them out…

  4. push to talk is a similar service which uses the spare network bandwith. you pay for the data sent and the message is delivered when the network is quiet. orange only use this in the uk.

  5. The technology is called Push To Talk (PTT) but no-one in the UK supports it. Orange did offer a PTT-style service (called Talk Now) for a monthly subscription fee a while back on selected handsets but this has now been stopped.

    I think the problem is that PTT competes with the network’s ability to charge for normal calls and they’ve all been unable to work out how to charge for PTT usage.
