Blackberry Bold Review – Making the Right Choice in a Smartphone

Ivo Sandoval http://www.flickr.com/photos/47117845@N00/403935638

Whether you are looking to a smartphone for business or personal use, it's important to make certain you choose a phone that has all of the features you need and built in reliability. If you have never owned a smartphone, you may want to read some reviews before you make a choice to buy a Blackberry. For those who are new to smartphones, it's best to go with the leader in the industry, and Blackberry was the sole provider of smartphones for many years, long before anyone other than businesses felt the need for them.

Blackberry Bold is RIM's newest addition to the Blackberry family and in keeping with the times includes many features that have never appeared on any Blackberry phone in the past. It is important to mention that most of these new features are directed more toward the personal user than the business user, so depending on your specific needs, you want to read the phone specifications before you buy a Blackberry Bold.

A few of the new features on the Blackberry Bold include upgraded email capabilities because of changes in screen size and resolution that allow you to read longer emails, better support for Microsoft Office that allows you to view documents almost exactly as they appear on your desktop and the inclusion of GPS. There are many more "firsts" in the Blackberry Bold, but it's better for you to view them for yourself based on the needs of your company or you as an individual.

Though the Blackberry was one of the first smartphones for business use, it has come a long way as you can see from the Blackberry Pearl, Blackberry Curve, and now the Blackberry Bold. Although it is larger than previous models, the Blackberry Bold is still lightweight enough to carry without a problem. Though it is not available to all potential carriers yet, it should be available by the end of the year. Making the choice to upgrade to the Blackberry Bold will provide you with features you have never seen before on a Blackberry phone.

Before you make up your mind about the new Blackberry Bold, you want to take time to read more than one Blackberry Bold review. This is more important if you have never used a Blackberry or are new to smartphones. If you read a Blackberry Bold review you will find out many of the great features that are part of this phone and the improvements that RIM has made over earlier Blackberry models. If you look for mobile phone deals, you will find a better price than if you go directly to the mobile phone store and buy what is there rather than wait for mobile phone deals.

Although the Blackberry Bold is not yet available everywhere, you will soon see it in mobile phone stores everywhere. It's a great phone to have if you do a lot of emailing or text message from your mobile phone since there is a full keyboard on the phone, a feature that used to be only on the Blackberry.

The Apple iPhone 3G vs. other smartphones

six steps  http://www.flickr.com/photos/11872224@N00/404810756

Due to the highly advanced technology these days, our life has become much easier and smoother. With increasing electronic equipments coming in the shops, people wish to own nearly each one to improve their way of living. You will be surprised once you step into the techno-world of gadgets and widgets. From electronic kitchen equipments to LCD TVs, from tiny laptops to astonishing mobile phones, the extremely developed skill and continuous up gradation in the technical world, the equipments have extremely improved. Apple iPhone is quite popular these days, isn't it? Its an astonishing mobile phone with wonderful applications and features, check if it truly works better than other smartphones. Here are some hardware features which help you to compare Apple iPhone 3G with others smartphones. - Camera: The image firmware of the Apple iPhone 3G is recently updated, so the camera's capture functionality is better than earlier. Photos captured with the latest Apple iPhone 3G look brighter and sharper. The close-ups, landscape photos have some hassle in concentrating as it uses the simple fixed focus lens. This is the biggest drawback of Apple iPhone 3G as it is unchanged from its older models. Its got the similar fixed focus and 2 megapixel camera, with the similar fundamental software. It also lacks video recording, moreover as it yet uses touch screen button, snapping a picture is slightly difficult. - Bluetooth: Other smartphone have A2DP headphones, so that the user carries additional batteries along. Apple iPhone 3G can not be support wireless speakers and headphones as it lacks A2DP feature. Alhough, it has an easy wireless music though. - Carrier Limitations: Though Apple iPhone 3G has HSDPA and UMTS data access, the largest problem is, it is available only in the US which includes comparatively limited area for 3G. But some smartphones like Sprint and Verizon have greater coverage area and also known 3G services to these extended areas. Hence, Apple iPhone 3G has restricted service providers. - Software: The cell phones functionality depends solely on its software, as the software and hardware are perfectly connected to each other. Software influences on the performance of the hardware in any technical device. The camera software is highly basic as well as the Bluetooth support in Apple iPhone 3G. Similar to any other smartphone, it doesn't support detection for handsfree dialing. It lacks copy and paste feature, it has a combined email box and some other features are really missing in the Apple iPhone 3G. But these software can really be fixed in Apple iPhone 3G! at the same time, you cant retrofit Apple iPHhone 3G's present camera feature. However it is equally tough to make challenging smartphones some less clunky or fit in the missing features such as Wi-Fi.

A Competent Smartphone – The Samsung Omnia PRO B7320

oreillygmt http://www.flickr.com/photos/62277986@N00/4110804098

No one can be faulted for thinking the new Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 is just a re-branded Jack, the Samsung i637 that’s currently available on AT&T. For sure, there are enhanced features you won’t see on the Jack.  But it can be interesting to note that the Omnia brand is usually reserved for Samsung’s high-end mobile phones.  This is nowhere near one.  But as any capable QWERTY slider smartphone, Samsung’s new baby can hold its head among other mobile phones in its class and price range.  Speaking of price, the B7320 is expected to debut in the European scene at a SIM-free €350 price point.

The Omnia Pro B7320 Business Features

Sporting the typical QWERTY candybar form factor, the Samsung Omnia Pro B7329 is no charmer and won’t be turning heads.  But it’s solidly built and looks as good as any QWERTY smartphone out there.  It’s a quad band GSM and triple band 3G/HSDPA smartphone running on the Windows Mobile 6.1 OS that’s already upgradeable to the 6.5 version.  With its 3.5G HSDPA download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, web surfing and downloading are a breeze.

It has a very familiar 2.4" QVGA TFT screen typical in many QWERTY non-touchscreen mobile phones.  There are just a few of them these days as most Windows Mobile smartphones are touchscreen. It’s sad that Windows Mobile is constrained to put out just 64k of color depth, so expect some color banding on a screen that otherwise could handle 16 million colors.

There’s multimedia functionality that’s at par with the best out there as it comes with a 3-megapixel autofocus camera with face and smile recognition. As a Windows Mobile handset, it has windows media player that supports all the popular audio and video codecs out there. There’s even a stereo FM radio with RDS.  You get microSD memory expandability up to 16GB for all your office and media files on the road.

Its email function is clearly the center of any QWERTY business phone.  And the Omnia Pro does not disappoint.  It also has a capable browser that integrates with social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace through instant widgets right form its home screen.  Lastly, its rather large 1480 mAH battery delivers 7 hours of continuous talk time in GSM and 12 hours in standby mode

Conclusion

The Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 is a very capable smartphone for the home and office.  It’s not a standout but at it price point, there are few that can better it in terms of features and performance.  If you like Windows Mobile smartphones with the classic non-touchscreen interface, this is your best bet.
